According to the latest figures shared by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 4,950 new infections were detected in the last 24 hours after 58,479 COVID-19 trials were conducted nationwide.
The NCOC said the level of COVID-19 positivity increased to 8.64%, adding that the number of coronavirus deaths nationwide had risen to 23,360 after 65 people lost their lives due to the disease.
The number of patients diagnosed stands at 940,164 and there are 66 287 active cases in the country, according to NCOC figures.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government has announced a nine-day closure that will take effect today.
Under the ban, government offices will be closed from next week, immunized people will not receive their salaries after August 31, vaccination cards for anyone roaming the streets will be inspected, the export industry will remain open, all markets in the province will remain closed, but pharmacies will remain open and transport to cities will be closed.
